Camp Boggy Creek

A Catholic Gators group is planning on going Feb. 17-19th.

Camp Boggy Creek is open year-round and utilizes nearly 1,800 volunteers per year to accomplish its mission to enrich the lives of children who have chronic or life threatening illnesses by creating camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe, and medically sound.

All Family Weekend Volunteers will stay in one of two air-conditioned Staff Lodges while the families stay in the cabins with ...their campers.

In order to be considered for volunteer service you will be required to:

- Be 19 years old or older
- Complete and submit the Volunteer Application and Background Check
- Submit three non-family / non-friend references with email addresses
- Participate in a telephone interview (20 minutes for weekend volunteers and 45 minutes for summer volunteers)
- Pass the Criminal Background Check
- Complete, sign and submit required medical history forms with proof of a current TB test and immunizations. (Summer volunteers must also have a Medical Physical signed by a Medical Professional within a year of arrival.)
- Sign and return Service Agreement at completion of application process
- Attend a mandatory orientation session on your scheduled arrival day
- Commit to entire length of scheduled volunteer session
- Day and Ongoing volunteers need only to submit the application, background check and participate in a brief interview.

You should complete the four-page application, including the two-page Background Check, ASAP. After we have received the completed application, you will be contacted, closer to your scheduled session, to participate in a telephone interview. You will be accepted after your background check clears, your Medical Forms with TB test and immunizations has been turned in along with your Service Agreement, and three personal reference emails are contacted. (NOTE: an additional Summer Physical signed by a physician is required for summer camp volunteers only.) The volunteer process typically takes 4 to 5 weeks. If you are interested in a particular session, you should submit your application at least 6 weeks prior to the session to insure placement. Groups should contact the Volunteer Coordinator for special instructions. We do have waiting lists for all sessions that may fill.

After you have completed the application process, you will receive an Acceptance Packet via email. There will be packing tips, a map to the camp, a mock schedule of the week’s or weekend’s activities, and during summer months a manual that will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Camp Boggy Creek. We suggest you bring an alarm clock as we start each day at 7:30 am! We also strongly encourage you to bring a wrist watch, as you will be asked to leave your cell phones in the staff lodges/cabins while you are playing with kids.

As you can see this is a very detailed process, but it is well worth it. Please consider taking part in this. Really pray about it. I need a group of people who are willing to do it without backing out at the last minute. This is really important.
